EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
FRCA offers a range of educational opportunities for the young people who access the Charity. These opportunities range from the Arts Awards, which FRCA deliver to Silver level; the National Open College Netwok (NOCN) "Working with Young People" award and FRCA also runs a GCSE Drama qualification in partnership with Northern Drama.
The Arts Awards are run during the regular weekly workshops, when FRCA help and support the young people in recognising their growing engagement within the Arts. Regular visits to local performances also take place, after which the young people are encouraged to write about their experiences and review a show. For the Bronze Award the young people are also encouraged to explore further all forms of art and research their arts heros and heriones. The Silver level expects the young people to take a more leading role in organising and promoting events and take on a personal challenge.
The NOCN award is a course aimed at enabling the young people to learn about, and recognise the skills needed to work effectively within the youth work setting. FRCA are keen to support young people to become involved in such courses in an attempt to help them develop their skills and also build its own future workers.
The GCSE Drama course is run over a year in partnership with Northern Drama, and is aimed at supporting the young people in gaining a qualification that will further their aspirations and help them apply with confidence, for further education courses at local colleges.
