FRCA win Rock Challenge for a second time!!

On Tuesday 4th June FRCA took part in Hull's Youth Division of Rock Challenge at Hull City Hall emerging winners for a second successive year.

The young people who's dance entitled "A Lifetime to Remember" which feature all of our Monday and Thursday groups, 44 in total, gave a fantastic performance in front of a huge audience. Working over the past 4 months with our amazing dance tutors Jimmy and Anne-Marie Crook the dance comprised of a range of songs from across the decades which told the story of a woman played by Dione, reminiscing over her life.

Playing Dione's character from time gone by was Imogen. Imogen portrayed the character beautifully, and alongside her peers who all played a huge part in the success, enabled the audience to become fully engrossed in the story.

Starting with a scene from the school classroom with Madness and Pink Floyd providing the soundtracks and then moving onto the "School Bop" disco where Little Richard took us back to the 50's the dance moved effortlessly across the decades. A finale of ELO's "Mister Blue Sky" and Michael Buble's "It's a Beautiful Day" completed a sensational performance by each and every young person that took part:

Liam H, James, Liam C, Tyler, Courtney, Rosie, Georgia S, Leon, Jade, Daniel, Gen, Ty, Chelsea, Georgia W, Charlotte, Billy-Jo, Leonie, Evie-Mae, Elle, Melissa, Jack, Emily, Dione, Levi, Dell, Emmie, Olivia, Zaynah, Luke, Katie, Molly, Jermaine, Kelsha, Emmanuel, Imogen, Poppy, Charlie, Nicola, Tony, Dylan, Libby, Jess, Toni and Leah you are all AMAZING!!

We must however mention at this point that one of the young people who took part in last years Rock Challenge and who was part of the FRCA Monday group for a number of years sadly lost her life earlier this year. All our thoughts are with the family. Amber will always be remembered by us and this success is dedicated to her.

As well as the success of Rock Challenge, FRCA have also being involved in other recent events and festivals such as the Cottingham Springboard Festival and also the Coolture Festival which took place around Hull City Centre.

For both of these events the FRCA singers and musicians took centre stage performing to the standard they are now accustomed to. Duos such as Danielle and Shauna, and Liv and Jess are now demonstrating a real maturity in their performances which is fantastic to see.

Alongside these are emerging soloists such as Livvy and Imogen who are now able to play and perform alone. This demonstrates the development of the young people which has been made possible from forward thinking organisations such as Youth Music, Children in Need and the Two Ridings Community Fund; thank you

I must also thank our incredible staff and volunteers; Iain, Lisa, Jonny, Liam, Alan, Garry, Hannah, Holly, Gary, Alan, Sammie, and Jess. Thank you for making the past month an uplifting experience for everyone involved.
